Are you parenting without wings?
“Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children, and no theories.” John Wilmot
My six year old daughter asked me to put together a toy airplane the other day that had broken. We hunted around and found the instructions. I have to say they were the most difficult set of instructions I have ever encountered before. It took me ages! I do NLP Coaching for a living and help put people and families back together after they fall apart. How could a toy airplane be so difficult?
Finally I was able to complete the task except for attaching the wings. This got me to thinking. Parenting has to be the most complex job in the world with the least amount of instruction manuals. How many parents feel like they are parenting without their wings?
As an NLP Life Coach and Trainer, I see many parents who are worried about their kids, particularly their behaviour, and whether they as parents are doing the best job they can. Dr Jonathan Bispham and I coach kids to help them get better results at school and at home. What we find is that so many kids have been labeled as ADHD or been identified as having Auditory Processing Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder and many more labels. Unfortunately when this happens, people around the kids tend to treat them differently and they sometimes feel isolated. The parents blame themselves.
There are many different styles of parenting and a huge amount of parenting books. So how do you know which system or style is the right one? Surely they can’t all be right?
In our practice when we do NLP Coaching, there is no one technique or system that will suit every client. This is the same for parenting children as there is no one system for every child at every stage. We believe that kids not only grow physically, they also evolve ‘how they think’. As your child’s thinking system changes, you need to change how you parent.
Our Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner training course teaches you the skills to help your kids become more confident, more motivated and more in control of their behaviour. We teach you how to solve problems within the family environment.
Imagine learning how you and your kids can work together to let go of negative emotions, unwanted behaviour, feelings of isolation, kids anxiety and depression. How much more in control would you and your kids feel after learning simple techniques that enable your family environment to run smoothly once again?
Learning NLP Coaching techniques will give you the skills you need to parent with confidence knowing you are definitely doing the best job you can.
Our next course on the Gold Coast, Queensland is scheduled 20 – 26 June 2011.

As Hodding Carter, Jr said, “There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings.”
Bye for now
